Fishers Family Photographer | The Mitchell Family

It was a beautiful fall evening with the Mitchell family at a park near Fishers. Mom Diana was looking for a family photographer in Fishers, Indiana because she wanted to get one last family photo with her two daughters, 16 & 19, before her oldest daughter Jenna left for college. Neither were exactly thrilled about it, but at that age, they never are! But we bribed them with dinner at their favorite restaurant afterwards and made it happen. By the end, both sisters, Kate and Jenna, were laughing and mom left with tears in her eyes (the good kind) because she got exactly what she needed!

Mom wanted a simple background and something quick and easy for their updated family shots. And guess what? I'm the queen when it comes to that!

What to wear? I told the girls to just pull something from their closets. No need to shop or spend more time on it than needed. Actually all three of them just wore jeans. Mom wore a gorgeous paisley blouse and brought a jacket to throw over for an extra look. Both girls wore cute sweaters. Done.

Where to shoot? We went to a sweet little park down the street from their house in Fishers, Indiana that still had a little bit of fall foliage. Super pretty green background with lots of nature vibes, texture, and beautiful light yellow flowers.

The whole thing was designed to be super quick and super fun.

Mini sessions are not only great for little ones (time wise), they are also great for teens! They are quick and super efficient.

Most parents of teens will hear one way or another just WHY they don't need their photos taken at any given moment. I get it. But the trick is keeping it moving so fast that by the time they realize they're having fun, we're already halfway done.

We captured tons of poses. All three of them together. Mom with each daughter individually. Jenna and Kate together. And everyone on their own. We even threw in a nice headshot for Jenna since she needed a LinkedIn profile picture for college. Two birds, one stone. Mom got her family photos. Daughter got a professional picture she could actually use for internships and jobs. If your kid is heading to college, this is worth doing. It takes like 2 minutes during your session.

It helped that we bribed the girls with going out to dinner at their favorite restaurant afterwards. Whatever works!

These girls sure do love their Mama and made her heart full this evening. I can't even tell you just how many times I was thanked for this quick and beautiful session. By the end, even Jenna and Kate were laughing and having fun. Which is exactly what family photos should feel like. The whole session was relaxed, genuine, and captured exactly what Diana was hoping for during this big transition time. Sometimes at that age, kids are never as excited about photos as mom is. But when they see the final images, they always come around.
