Fishers Maternity Photographer | Kelly’s Outdoor Summer Session

I always ask my clients what vibe they're going for, and Kelly wanted something natural and beautiful outdoors. She wanted that dreamy flower field look for her maternity photos. She was looking for a maternity photographer in Fishers and I knew just how to make it happen.

Kelly was one of those moms who just GLOWED from the inside out. She loved being pregnant and it showed in every single photo we captured during her outdoor session.

Dreamy Flower Field Vibes for Kelly's Maternity Portraits in Fishers

Finding the right spot is always a last minute choice for me. It depends on what look we're going for at that exact moment. Kelly really wanted a flower field type look, so we picked this amazing park location in Fishers that gave us wild flowers, tons of greenery, and this soft dreamy look with the tree line in the background.

The location was absolutely gorgeous. A natural outdoor spot with feather reed grass, lush greenery, wild flowers, trees, and even some water. There was this perfect little trail lined with more greenery that made the whole place feel super peaceful. Exactly the kind of spot where you forget you're ten minutes from a Target.

Was it hot during our summer session? Yes. Were there bugs? Absolutely. Is it worth it for those stunning shots? You bet. I always bring bug spray for my clients because those summer evening sessions in Fishers can get a little buggy, but the lighting during golden hour is just perfect.

What to Wear to Stay Comfortable

Kelly wore an off shoulder cream flowy dress that didn't fight with the field setting. What do I mean by that? She picked something with a natural color and feel that made her look like she belonged right there in that beautiful space. Her husband Dan wore a nice maroon tee shirt and dark jeans. Kelly even went barefoot, which added to that natural earthy vibe we were going for.

If you're thinking about what to wear, my biggest tip is to think flowy fabrics, natural colors, and comfortable shoes (or no shoes at all like Kelly). Avoid busy patterns or super bright colors that might compete with the backdrop.

Easy Poses for Maternity Photos in Fisher

During my sessions, I give simple directions to keep moms comfortable. Moms to be can get hot and overwhelmed easily, so I focus on easy poses. Look up. Look down. Look away. Look at your husband. I always make sure we get those sweet hands on belly shots that everyone loves.

Kelly wanted more photos with her husband included, so I made sure we got plenty of those couple shots instead of just focusing on solo maternity portraits. Dan was such a supporting dad to be and was ready to jump in whenever we needed him. Some of my favorite images from this session are the ones where they're just looking at each other and laughing.
