Noblesville Maternity Photographer  | Lucy’s Studio Session

Sometimes the best maternity photos happen inside the studio, and Lucy's session was the perfect example of why. She wanted a classic photoshoot focused on their soon to be family of three. As a Noblesville maternity photographer, I love when moms come in knowing exactly what they want.

Lucy was the cutest thing ever and Dad was so smitten with her that he would follow any direction I gave him and was ready at any moment to be in the photos.

Simple Maternity Studio Photography for Lucy's Noblesville Session

The focus in this session was the belly and the sweetness. That's it. All you need as an expecting mama is a simple shirt and jeans to give that classic look. I think they nailed it!

I suggested coming into the studio with a white shirt and jeans, but Lucy didn't have a white shirt at the time. To make it easy on her, I just pulled one out of my closet! It worked perfectly. Dad wore a black shirt and jeans. The contrast looked amazing and gave us that classic timeless feel she was going for.

I also pulled out a white square prop and a white chair to create more of a contemporary studio feel and to give them something to sit on so they would feel more comfortable rather than just standing the whole time. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference in how relaxed a couple feels during their session.

Why Studio Maternity Photos Work So Well

Not every maternity session has to be outdoors. When you're working in the studio, you have complete control over lighting, temperature, and timing. That can be really nice, especially during those unpredictable Indiana winters when it's freezing outside and you're 34 weeks pregnant.

The session was quick and easy and no fuss at all.

We also did an outdoor session in winter as well, but this studio session had its own special vibe. As a photographer, I love having the flexibility to offer both options depending on what each family is looking for and what the weather here in Indiana decides to do that week.

Posing for Maternity Portraits in Noblesville: Keep It Simple

There's something really sweet about watching expecting dads during these sessions. They're usually so excited and proud, and it shows in every single shot. Lucy's husband was no different. He was all in from the very first pose.

I kept the posing super simple for this one:

• Hands on the bump.

• Looking at each other.

• Looking down at the belly.

• Sitting together on the chair.

• A few standing shots with forehead touches.
