Westfield Family Photographer | The Marsh Family
I've been been the Marsh family’s Westfield family photographer for years now and it's been getting harder and harder to get everyone together! Mom Beth, Dad Paul, oldest daughter Valerie (19, away at college), Sophia (18, heading off to college), and Erin (16, still in high school). This family of five is going in five different directions at all times. But they still come back every year for updated photos and I love that about them. For this summer session, we chose a spot near Westfield where we could all meet up quickly and get a golden hour mini session in before the sun went down.

Golden Hour Family Portraits in Westfield
What is golden hour? It's about an hour or so before sunset when the sun is getting ready to set and shines beautifully on everyone from behind. With their blonde hair glowing from the sun and the water nearby, I think this session turned out perfect.
I started offering summer mini sessions and told Beth to book the last spot if she wanted the prettiest light of the evening. And she did. We have multiple places we use but this area in Westfield always allows us to walk around and get photos in multiple spots with that perfect light. We do move quickly from spot to spot but that's how we get so many great shots. And yes I DO overshoot! Worth it!
Outfits the Marsh Family Wore
Mom Beth let the girls wear what they would like and what they felt good in as long as it was simple and matched with the family. They kept it casual and easy. Everyone wore denim bottoms and casual but nice tops.
Dad Paul wore a chambray button up shirt with jeans. Valerie wore dark denim bottoms and a white smock top. Mom Beth wore a navy shirt with light denim. Sophia wore medium blue denim and a grey crop top. And Erin wore denim with a black crop top. Family photo outfits do not have to be a big deal.
Mini Sessions Work for Busy Families in Westfield
Some families want that beautiful golden light but prefer a mini session because of timing and multiple kids going multiple ways. I get it. Between college schedules, high school activities, and just life, finding one evening where everyone is available feels impossible sometimes.
That's exactly why I have families book the last spot of my mini session sets or book their own mini golden hour session. You show up, we move fast, and you leave with beautiful photos without giving up your whole evening.
This session is proof that you don't need a long session to get great family photos. You just need good light, a solid location, and a photographer who knows how to move.
